A federally approved 501 (c)(3) non-profit educational organization, and a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School, our yoga center is dedicated to teaching the keys to relaxation, stress reduction and self-unfolding through the time-tested, scientifically validated practices of yoga and meditation which are integral parts of authentic Yoga science. As a non-profit educational organization, we train teachers to pass on the time-tested traditions of yoga in light of current developments in science, health and wellness.
Yoga is known to improve the health of the back and spine, improve breathing, reduce blood pressure, reduce the production of stress hormones in the body by not constantly being in flight/flight mode, and brings balance to the physical body.
It has now become common knowledge that the techniques of Yoga Science are an asset to health maintenance and illness prevention. We teach classical Hatha yoga; meditation, breathing and relaxation ; yoga philosophy and psychology; the basics of Ayurveda; and vegetarian cooking. We are also available during the day for private Hatha yoga classes or Yoga Therapy sessions.
Yoga not only helps improve your body, but also helps with mindfulness and meditation. It is important to take a break from daily life in order to focus on yourself and get clarity. Focusing on your breath during practice is key to staying in tune with your mind and body. We offer Meditation Seminars that teach you how to practice meditation in a systematic and sustainable manner.
Sri Swami Rama
One of the great masters from the Himalayas, Swami Rama is the founder of the Himalayan Institute. Born in India, he studied in both India and Europe and received his spiritual training in the Himalayan cave monasteries and in Tibet. His best known work, Living With the Himalayan Masters, reveals the many facets of this accomplished adept and demonstrates his embodiment of a living tradition. Swami Rama directly trained our center's founders.
